Narrow wins for Cardiff and Llandaff at Laleston.
This year's Llandaff Branch Striking Competition was held on Saturday 12th May 2007 at Laleston. There was a good entry, with six teams in the call-change and four in the method-ringing sections.
Andrew and Helen Phillips, the Association Master and Chairman respectively, judged the competition and, after a fine tea provided by the local ringers, announced the following results:
Call Change Competition for the Dennis Perry Memorial Trophy (in order of ringing): 1. Cowbridge, 44 faults 2. Radyr, 52 3. Whitchurch, 35 4. Cardiff Students, 25 5. Aberdare, 39 6. Caerphilly, 48
Well done to the Students, representing their home tower of St John's, Cardiff, and well done, too, to an even younger team from Aberdare
Method Ringing Competition for the Gwyn Lewis Memorial Trophy (in order of ringing): 1. Cadoxton, 42 faults 2. Llandaff, 26 3. Radyr, 32 4. Cardiff, 44
A narrow squeak for Llandaff in a very close competition.
The 1st and 2nd placed teams in each section go forward to represent the Branch in the Association Striking Competitions, which will take place on Saturday 23rd June 2007.
